Procedure to Change Address in Aadhaar Card Online

The Aadhaar Card is an essential identity document that serves as proof of identity, address and other personal details of an individual. If you have recently relocated to a new address, it is mandatory to update your address on the Aadhaar Card.

The good news is that you can change your address on the Aadhaar Card online, without the need to visit any Aadhaar Card centre. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to change address in aadhar card online:

Step 1: Visit the official Aadhaar Card website

The first step is to visit the official Aadhaar Card website – https://uidai.gov.in. Once the website opens, click on the ‘My Aadhaar’ tab on the menu bar and select the ‘Update Your Address Online’ option from the drop-down list.

Step 2: Enter your Aadhaar Card details

Once you select the ‘Update Your Address Online’ option, you will be redirected to the Aadhaar Card address update page. Here, you will be asked to enter your Aadhaar Card username, password and security code. If you have not yet registered on the Aadhaar Card website, then you need to click on the ‘Register’ option and create a new account. You can also use the OTP-based authentication process to update your address without logging in.

Step 3: Choose the address update option

After logging in, you will be required to choose the ‘Address Update Request (Online)’ option. You will then be directed to a page that displays a form for updating the Aadhaar Card address.

Step 4: Enter the new address details

Enter your new address details in the form displayed on the screen. You will be required to fill in the fields such as the house number, locality, street name, landmark, pin code, etc. Note that the address details you provide should be accurate and must match the address proof you are submitting.

Step 5: Upload address proof

You will be required to upload an address proof document supporting your new address. You can upload any one of the following proof of address documents – passport, bank statement, electricity bill, gas bill, water bill, telephone landline bill, property tax receipt or any other government-issued document. Once you upload the document, make sure that the document is authentic and meets the UIDAI’s verification standards.

Step 6: Preview your address update request

After submitting the form and supporting documents, you will be required to preview your address update request. You can verify the details you have submitted and make any necessary corrections. Then, click on ‘Submit’ to complete the address update request.

Step 7: Select BPO service provider

After submitting the address update request, you will be asked to choose a BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) service provider. The BPO service provider is responsible for verifying the address proof submitted by you and updating your address on the Aadhaar card. You can select the service provider based on your location.

Step 8: Tracking your request status

After submitting your address update request, you can track the status of your request online. You will receive an update from UIDAI after the verification process is complete. If your request is rejected, you can submit a new address update request and ensure that the address proof document you are submitting is valid and authentic.

Conclusion

Updating your address on the Aadhaar Card is a simple and hassle-free process if you follow the above-mentioned steps. It is important to keep your Aadhaar Card up-to-date to avoid any issues related to your identity, address or any other personal details. You can update your Aadhaar Card address online from the comfort of your home, without the need to visit any Aadhaar Card centre.
